I’m still standing… like the song title goes. Still standing and kicking. Now standing and kicking in sunny Tampa, Florida and loving the palm trees, heat and humidity. Funny how things change… and change quickly. The last time I updated this blog was exactly a year ago to the day. This is purely by accident. I was speaking to a friend yesterday and we go to talking about branding, personal sites etc. and I began to think again about what my brand is and where I’m going. So, today I checked in on perrylawrence.com, updated the theme, fixed a few things and thought time to write and tell you (and myself) where I am and what I’m up to.
When I say things change fast I mean really fast. Here’s an update:
Last we spoke, I was in NC directing shows and doing some live streaming. Loved it (past tense).
That ended, I moved to Florida, and I now work for a fantastic company called KelbyOne.com. Love it (present tense). I started out as Executive Producer and now I do instructional design and curriculum development for KelbyOne. Lots of growth opportunities in the online education space these days!
They say some of the most stressful things in life are job change, moving, and relationship change. I did all three at once… you know… to get them out of the way 😉
My girlfriend Sally says “we all have ‘Worst Year Ever'”. Last year was hopefully my worst and this year has been simply stated, amazing!
Florida is quite an interesting mix of people, places and opportunities. It’s not ALL palm trees and sandy beaches. But if you make a conscience effort, you can sit under a palm while watching the sun go down over the ocean most days.
I’m loving doing a weekly podcast with my buddy Steven Washer over at Brainy Video. The podcast is called VideoToday.Biz. We just released our 5th podcast and have been consistent with weekly delivery. I’m working on a few other podcasts with Audra Carpenter and will be distributing a new cooking show that JP Dame Produced (and I directed) via a new content network. I’ve also got another cooking show in development that I think will be a huge hit. I can’t say a lot about it right now but it involves travel and a Royal Chef 😉 More on that later.
My son Harrison graduated from Lehigh and now works in NYC in marketing. I am super proud of him as a person and all he is accomplishing!
Oh, and I got a medical checkup recently and all systems are a go… so I have that going for me!
Is there a recipe for me to share here? Yes I believe there is:
1. Enjoy where you are (physically, mentally and geographically)
2. Enjoy who you are with (personally, socially and in business)
3. Reboot if you need to
2015 is shaping up to be my best year ever. I hope your’s is on track to be the same! Leave me a comment below – I’d love to catch up and this seems a better place to me than on Facebook or Twitter 😉
